It all started with a friend of mine
who likes playing chess and I thought I'd play against him.
As he lives quite far away from me I thought we could
play on the Internet. The problem was that I didn't have a chess game.
Therefore I had to program one myself, just a simple game
that works just as we were playing it face to face.

A board that you move your pieces on and no computer controlled rules,
a simple game.

After a while I got the idea
to enable anybody who has a distant friend and who wants to play chess
with that person doing so.

So it became what it is today a free service for anybody who wants to play a bit of chess.
